Creating a History of Hartford, Vermont

The 2009-2010 school year at Hartford High School offers a continuation of a class providing the students with a rare chance to do history. The five Juniors from the 2008-2009 school season who ventured through this course feel an obligation to continue this history project with support from teacher Mike Hathorn. This site holds much of the work tackled last year and the final product of our work from this year. Woody Rothe, now retired, still makes appearances and helps in any way possible. The five students, now seniors, are working in the field interviewing, collecting stories, researching, and photographing, and then, using the latest technology, creating databases that link with 3D models in Google Earth.  Through this project, the students have reached the intersection of place, history and technology and provide a visual presentation for the world to enjoy.

We are very fortunate to have a company, like Google, stay with us while we reach our goal by presenting our history in a way never done before.

We would like to thank Hartford School District, Tele Atlas, Hartford Historical Society, Town of Hartford, and Dartmouth College for help in the research, resources, teaching, and web hosting for this course to be successful.

Our site is hosted by PRB2 Designs.

Please feel free to check out our NEW BROCHURE which explains in detail,  how and what we plan on accomplishing during this school year.
